Ok im a first time fq owner I deal in mostly contemporary vacuums, but the vintage bug bit me in the butt, so I want to restore it I git it for free from my grandparents I know the hose is not the right hose for it I also did research and I think the 31's are straight suction so uh point stuff out to me and stuff, ao heres some pics

Surely not the right hose.

I have one of these burried in storage. Mine is a straight suction ( no outlet for a power head). I used mine for a bench vac for a while. Sadly filter queen no longer makes any parts in the salmon color. Everything is black now, though you may be able to find chocolate brown still. Their are also aftermarket hoses in chocolate brown available, don't waste your money. They don't fit correctly on either end. Do you have all the attachments? As far as filters go, I only use the genuine filter queen cones. Iv tried all the aftermarket ones and haven't been satisfies with any. The originals just perform better. You have a nice machine. Those older ones all use Ametek motors. Those motors last for ages an pull more air than the new style motors.

I would like to refurbish it im not sure what the rivet is for in the bottom of the tank its dented n a few spots and scraped paint

 Everything this Filter queen needs can be found there with a little patience, and not too much money. A number of the missing parts are listed at this very moment, including the correct cream colored tool caddy and the proper exhaust cap that fits under the handle. I'm a big fan of the vintage Filter Queens in general, but a vintage machince that belonged to grandparents is worthy of additional consideration and care as far as I'm concerned.

In addition to the missing tool caddy and hose, you'll want to track down the basic tool set that came with every machine. It consisted of a crevice tool, an uhpolstery tool, a brush fitting for the uhpolstery tool, a dusting brush, a floor tool, and a felt pad for the floor tool. You'll also need to find the two metal wands that connect your floor tool to the hose. And when it comes to the hose, the originals are found in two colors. One is a sort of salmon color that some folks will describe as pink(though I don't find that to be an accurate description) and the other has a decidedly more brown tint to it, and I'm not talking about the later hoses that were actually brown. Between the two I'd look for the salmon colored hose as they look better with the machine and don't seem to get sticky with age the way the other one does. The first photo below shows my model 31 with the salmon colored hose and all of the attachments I just mentioned. The second photo shows my sisters model 33 with its brownish or tan colored hose.

As far as the rivet in the bottom of the tank goes, I'm not sure what you're talking about there. Perhaps a photo of it would help.
