I want to solve this riddle of Performance and Why these rainbows have different spiders with one being cupped. i just bought an 1986 D4 with non cupped spider just like my D3 and it is getting all wet by seperator but vacuums fine. My d3 does not get wet like this and am using the larger water pan. I have noticed that the cupped spider part #r1976 is replaced by non cupped spider part #4101. just curious and could not find answers on search, calling on rexair jedis to see why the different model spiders. i am sure it deals with airflow and such but one must be better???? will try to post pics, ty

here are pics of my d3 and $25 yard sale d4 w spiders

The d3 hums like a champ but has damn china pot metal screws and can not be rebuilt, the d4 needs her bearings cleaned but flange screws are too bad/stripped so going to run her hard till she locks up.
