Presenting the latest creature from Dr. Frankenvacuum's laboratory!

It's the Royal-Electro!

I'd say this is a very manly machine -- it's rugged, tough and sturdy -- nothing at all ladylike about it. And look at that long, long hose!! (wink-wink-nudge-nudge!) Its appearance is very masculine and handsome to me, and boy-oh-boy the power this thing has!! I'll bet it easily pulls 100". I attached an electrolux polisher to it -- My Lord! I thought the thing was going to soar off into space!!

Okay, here's what I did to it.

The first and most obvious thing was to remove that ugly and ungainly tool caddy. It wasn't at all difficult to remove, and, as I suspected, the machine is gloriously beautiful without it. I don't need it and I hate it and am glad to be rid of it.

I cut off the power nozzle lead on the machine end hose coupler. With it on the hose, the hose coupler will only swivel about an inch in either direction -- there's a protrusion that prevents it from over-swiveling. Without it, the hose coupler can spin freely in all directions.

I carefully dismantled the handle end -- just a matter of removing about a zillion screws. Talk about over-kill! Once I got the handle off, it was a simple matter to remove (and save) the short power nozzle lead and plug. Then using a short length of metal coupling that fits inside the swiveling hose end and then inside the handle, I was able to fasten an Electrolux handle onto the hose.

One of my big pet peeves is hoses that don't swivel freely at both ends. The hose in its original condition did not swivel at the handle end at all and that was really bugging me. With the replacement Electrolux handle, it swivels to beat the band!

I added a set of Electrolux aluminum wands and white Electrolux combination attachments. I think dark gray would look better with the maroon color of the machine, but I don't have any. So these will do until/if I ever find a dark gray set.

As I was taking photos it occurred to me that the little clip on the front-end of older Electroluxes might fit, to provide storage for the dusting brush. I dug one out and attached it, and it fits just as pretty as you please!

One thing you wouldn't be able to see: In the rear cover there was a metal insert with louvers in it. The design of the louvers was very poor and inefficient and blocked exhaust airflow something terrible. It did make the motor sound a little softer, but I figured since this is a Manly Machine then let it roar! I pried the louvered piece out and re-attached the cord winder. To my surprise it's really not any louder now; there's just a bit more "whoosh" from the exhaust.

All in all, it's a fun new sweeper to play with. Eventually the novelty will wear off but in the meantime I'll have a blast with it!

What a great looking machine, and yes it does look like it means business! Royals are among my fav tanks, they come in such great colors plus love the cord winders . . . I think the white attachments are perfect for it, but then again maroon and white were my college colors.

When do you think it was made and how many amps does it draw? Are bags easy to find?

'stove pipe with a motor in it'-

-as it might have been described by upright salesmen. This could be the ultimate version of what every home should have as we see more hard floors.Throw away bag, chrome, cordwinder, quality attachments and more.Looks great!
(I agree with gray Elux tools and then sit beside a Hoover 29 for rugs and carpet.)
