another photo of an early 1960's Australian made PYE rotovac. the machine was expensive machine in its day being 42 guineas (approx $80 aud) in comparison to the Hoover Constellation at 40 guineas and the Pinnock (in the US it's a compact) was 38 guineas. A 480 watt motor with lacklustre suction in comparison to other cylinders noted, however, it did come with a 10 year warranty which was unheard of, even with this warranty not many stood the test of time or were sold. With the lineup of superb cleaners such as Hoover, Electrolux, Pinnock, GE Swiveltop it's any wonder the PYE didn't get a look in.

Looks like PYE had a contract with Eureka-Williams: This is a modified version of the Roto-Matic. The attachments are definitely 1950's era Eureka.

Love the Australian version of the Golden Anniversary lid ...makes it date to around 1957.

I saw this add on youtube years ago, I wondered if any were still around! That is a very beautiful machine, that can't be gathered from the add. Funny that it actually wasn't a good performer and that hardly anyone held on to them for ten years.

It certainly is an attractive vacuum but wasn't a patch on the massively popular Hoover Senior / Juniors, Electrolux and GE Swiveltops. Whilst it was attractive a then older model Electrolux with a 300 watt motor packed more punch than the PYE. PYE made great TV's and Radio's but put out shocking vacuum cleaners like their stick vac (dirty fan type) which was 250 watt, loud as hell and was deemed electrically unsafe due to design and not being earthed. Every PYE vacuum i've seen is identical to other major manufacturers vacuums. I've got the Rotovac, Stickvac and a 70's capsule style one and when cleaning it up the PYE label fell off the floor tool and the 'Toshiba' logo was underneath.

It is a beautiful looking machine. I'm really digging the dry mop floor tool thing. Can you show a couple more images of that? It seems pretty clever though I wonder if it's as effective as a well made horse hair floor brush.
