I love to see that Hoover POD pop up! That was Hoover in all it's glory, what a shame that things have changed so drastically, and unfortunately, not for the good, IMHO. The only thing missing is our John Long standing in the middle of all those wonderful products!

It is a very profound statement of a once great American company. It's such a shame that they were not more innovative in later years, but it's the story of so many companies - profit before product and resting on the laurels of yesteryear. We will continue to see fewer and fewer American companies and products... the names will go on but the companies and their reputations have already ceased to exist. Today's products are a mere shadow of those that built these once great enterprises.

I have that photo, framed, in my house. Are you surprised? I DID walk down the ramp from the factory to the warehouse, where that was taken.

I remember

The big Hoover display at the Belk store in down town Charlotte, they had every vacuum and polisher Hoover made, this was in the early 70s, My Mother and Aunt went to Charlotte several times a year to shop, I thought it was great!
