I found one for $50 that's been restored at a local junk shop. He said he'd hold it for me, but I'm wondered if I should get it.

I wonder why people ask this question. If you want it, get it! If you don't want it, don't get it! It's your decision to make, not anyone else's.

My 137¢'s worth: It would depend wholly on the condition (mechanical and cosmetic), although I'd say in general that these days $50.00 for a 95-year-old Hoover would be a pretty good deal unless it's just absolute crap.
