Just wanted to say hello as this is my first post. My favorite vintage vacuums would be Electrolux model E, brown G and L. My grandma on dads side had the E and the other had the G and mom had the blue L. I now have both E and G in my collection and they are both mint and fully serviced but sadly neither has the original hose. I keep moms blue L that she bought new in 1973 clean and serviced and it just recently got a NOS aftermarket blue braided hose (one of the last in existence in my area). I remember the ELUX saleman coming to the house as a 3 1/2 year old and demonstrating a basic L and a full boat L with powerhead and cord winder. Amazing what we can remember from childhood. It just so happened that mom needed a cleaner at the time as her old purple Westinghouse bit the dust so she went for the basic L. My grandma with the brown G also had a Regina Electrikbroom model K that was mint until she loaned it to some relatives who wrecked it. Thus started my fascination with Regina Electrikbrooms which are another favorite. I also like the pre Classic Kirbys, Eureka canisters and 1400 series uprights AKA F&G uprights. My good friend Chris (Hoover 28)got me into some of the older Hoovers of which I am starting a nice collection starting with a nice restored Junior. I will post some pics of my collection soon. Joel |
