So as a young child My Gran staid in a small town called Oudschorn and she had this yellow upright electrolux with a big brown bag. I loved the way that bag expanded and just loved the look of it. When I was about 10 my Aunt bought my Gran a new green Hoover sensitronic, I loved this one two but always missed the Electrolux and have been searching for one ever since.

Recently we made a trip to Calvinia ( a small farm town in the northern Cape) to visit Joannes aunt. After much chatter about my collection, we had no sooner made the 5 hour trip back home than Jo got a whats app with a pic of one that one of the family friends found.

Will we made a trip to go visit and I got it last night, Plus a Bakkie ( thats what we call a pickup truck , pronounced Bukky ) full of columbus polishers and a cool tiny Hoover washing machine.

So here it is before a quick polish, Its bearings are dry but that will be fixed today

I went out and sat on the Stoep ( porch) and gave it a good hand polish, all my equipment is at home 5 hours away.

Is that the very same vacuum your Grandmother owned or one just like it? Beautiful too, especially considering it's likely age. Gran took care of her equipment.

Love those Columbus vacuums and floor machines-and the Nilfisk canister beside them! Great team!!!Too bad Columbus isn't available in the US that I know of.

As far as I know only the name exists now not the company.

Those Nilfisks are great units I am using a identical but much newer and more powerful version in my home at the moment as one of my canister vacuums.

I love the bag, I would love to get it reprinted. I remember it as a kid when my Grans nanny was vacuuming. I always loved the shape it blew up too
