I was with a friend today in an antique mall and we came across this. I thought it was pretty cool because they usually don't have vacuums in antique stores. The condition is a bit rough (tag says "display purposes only"). It was $45.00

Wow that looks great and not a bad price. Those are hard to come by I wish I had one.

I'm sure the average hipster would LOVE to have a broken old vacuum as a display piece! laughing

This vintage Eureka brings 2 questions to mind:

1. When did Hoover's patent on a revolving brush expire? Or did this Eureka cause a lawsuit?

2. Why did Eureka place the bag on the left side of the handle? If most people are right handed, you'd think the bag would get in the way of the user....

Any thoughts?

OMG

The Eureka Challanger...wow what a great find..now to find a bag...I had two once...My last one I lost in a storage place, sadly lost all of them that were in there. What a wonderful find!!!!!

You are so lucky.

The cool thing about this vacuum I liked the handle which reminds me of a Kirby....

What would the original bag have looked like?

Hoover never had a patent on the revolving brush. They only had a patent on the beater bars, and successfully sued Air-Way over their use of similar beater bars in their twin-motor models.
