Hi all,

At the end of May I posted my experience with Dyson repairing my DC24. They took over 3 weeks to sort out and in the end I had to get them to collect my machine from me and repair it at their head office in Malmesbury.

Anyway, I got my machine back with a new duct housing (old one broke so handle wouldn't stay in) new filters, new cable and new cleanerhead.

I've had the machine just over a month and now the vacuum won't turn off. This is a little frustrating as I haven't had it back long. Does anyone know if it's easy to gain access to the switch assembly?

I'm tempted to have a look at it myself instead of waiting weeks for an engineer to turn up to fix it. On the plus side. My DC24 switches on. Just won't switch off! Lol

See vid below.

Isn't that Dyson's claim to fame? Breaking down a lot? tongue-out

I haven't worked on anything newer than a DC17, but if the switch is the same, then I can certainly help!

Take the handle off the vacuum, there should be some plastic snap-in thingy tabs. Push the tags back out and that should release the switch cover!

Here is a DC 24 strip down repair from a member Beko1987 here who has been kind enough to post a detailed strip down but on another site :) if you need any spares, manchestervacs are really good Dyson dealers

Parwaz, this machine is under warranty. So I'm not prepared to purchase anything for this machine!!! All I want to know is how I can dismantle the top to check to try and the switch or see if anything has snapped.

Perhaps it's best for me to just leave it in the hands of Dyson. This is so irritating that its broken again.

I thought you may have wanted to replace the switch,
