Maybe the bidder thinks the "original box" is really the "original box"! What they are referring to the "original box" looks to be from an old Compact! I remember seeing something like this in an old Compact advertisement.

Electrolux -- as well as many other vacuum cleaner companies -- did offer storage hassocks as an optional accessory. I believe they were first offered cir. 1949-50 and as late as the Model G. Thereafter, they disappeared. I remember many a little old lady who had an XXX, LX, E, F, R or G and stored it in their hassock!

Companies I know of who sold them, in one form or another, include Compact, Electrolux, Filter Queen, Lewyt, Eureka and Apex; and probably others as well.

Also, you could buy a hassock at many vac shops.

Well, as the old saying goes, "One man's Electrolux is another man's Lewyt."

This truly is a splendid specimen of the XXX and I would love to have had it myself, and am only grateful that I already have a couple in equal condition so I didn't have to begrudge someone else the pleasure of having this one!

Just as a point of interest Electrolux in Canada sold seat chests up to the late 80's. They were made by Chatham Fabrics in Chatham Ontario who also made the chests for Filter Queen, Compact and Kenmore. I had a catalogue from Chatham Fabrics from the mid 1990's at one time and they were still producing all of these chests as well as record chest and other things.

Have to see if they're still in business, Chatham is about 40 miles from me.
