Calling all central vac experts.

So I bought a used central vac (an older beam unit) and am looking for some advice for the install - particularly the 2nd floor. The power unit will hang in the garage and I can easily get from the garage attic to the 2nd floor attic. But, that would mean the inlet valve would sweep up right away instead of heading down.

Is that a problem? Does it reduce the efficiency?

I'm basically deciding between 1 outlet in the hall and (foolishly?) attempting to install the pipe into an existing wall - dropping it down from the attic, or putting in 2 separate outlets in closets on the wall adjacent to the garage attic (would also mean a much shorter run of pipe - probably cutting out about 20 or so feet.

I'm leaning to the closet wall, but then the outlets will be in 2 of the bedrooms v.s. a central hall location, but the hose will reach the entire floor.

Advice? Experiences?
Thanks in advance!

I would go for the central location in the hall, it's not that hard to put the pipe in an existing wall. There are youtube videos of it being done and I have done a few. Just need patience and good measuring skills to keep the holes in the wall to a minimum. The upsweep isn't an issue and just make sure you use central vac pipe.

I had mines installed professionally but I mapped out the house where the inlets would go. He said I did a great job, I just didn't want to go into the attic & start cutting holes through walls.

Pipes

Heading up only pose a problem for dense little items I.e. BB's
