Besides the obvious "a vacuum cleaner" I've not heard of the Capitol brand before. It was a no bid, low opening price item on eBay so I thought "why not" and placed a bid. Imagine my surprise when I received notice I was the winning bidder! Anyway according to the machine photo and owners manual I have bought a Capitol model 260. I searched the archives here and found zero results. Can anyone tell me anything about this impromptu purchase?

Pretty machine. I saw it on eBay too but wasn't tempted. It's clearly a Royal, presumably a private-label machine like Starks, Good Housekeeper, etc., and the rare "Sanit-Aire" that I found back in December. Or, rather, that found me! :)

Definitely a Royal built private label machine. My Royalaire 260 is also similar, but a little newer, as it has wheels instead of runners. All it needs to be complete is the tool caddy and instruction book. Congrats to both of you on your acquisitions!

Thank you for the information on the machine! I thought it resembled a Royal machine, in fact if I'm looking at the emblems on the tool caddy in the photo, most of the attachments have a "crown" on them that resembles some I've seen on Royal vacs! You guys have great looking machines as well! Jeff, I really like the wheels on your Royal, while I will on occasion run a sled-runner vac through my house, I prefer to use one on wheels so it doesn't mar our hardwood floors too bad. I'm rather excited to get this machine though and when I actually have it in my possession, I'll post some more photos of it! Thanks again!

Steve
