Anyone ever use an Ametek-Lamb 119997? 		[Down to Last]

Pre Whisperton Kenmore, early US built Panasonic and some Miele canister vacuums used a variety of Ametek-Lamb 5.7 inch, thru-flow skeleton motors. Others probably did too. Many had two stage fans, meaning a big fan housing. If they wear out in a way that makes them impossible to rebuild most shops will opt to replace them with an Ametek-Lamb 115923. Miele and some Kenmores came with that motor from the factory. With 122 cfm airflow, 100.4 inches of water lift and 447 air watts it is a fine motor for a canister vacuum. I have used one in the old Avocado Bomber (1971 Kenmore canister) and it flexes the bag compartment lid inwards if it pulls a hard vacuum!

I have been toying with building a hot rod out of an early 1990's Kenmore canister like my gray 4.1. I started looking for a killer motor to base the build on and see one on some central vacuum sites, an Ametek-Lamb 119997. I just printed out the technical bulletin on it. It is also a 5.7 inch thru-flow motor, and the exterior size is almost identical to that of the 115923, but the specs of this motor are eye-popping (at least to me). 130.2 cfm airflow, 143.1 inches of water lift (no, that's not a typo) and 650 air watts. It says it's "suitable for 120 volt AC operation, 50 or 60 Hz".

Has anyone ever tried installing this motor in a vacuum that can advise me what to look out for or what kind of can of worms I might be opening up? The only thing I can see is I might have to open up some more exhaust volume somehow (break out the dremel ! ) to ensure I can use the motors full airflow. And it might dim the lights and suck the hose flat on a hard pull, heh, heh, heh.

Has one of those big old Amteks! I had to oil the bearing in it when I purchased it, now it's ready for another 40 years!

Mine's a two-speed. You can defiantly notice that famous bag-door flex!

Really need information on the Ametek-Lamb 119997 motor. Does anyone have one in a central vacuum at home? Is this a brushless reluctance motor or did I miss something looking at the diagrams and images of that motor? Thanks.
