Wow! Thanks for these pics!

I have never seen what the hidden "basement" looks like in a Eureka Williams canister. How do you open up that bottom part of the vac? Are there screws?

Also, is the Cordaway reel installed on a slant in this Viking? Is that the way it's supposed to be?

This brings back fond childhood memories of secretly making my way up 5 flights of escalators at Montreal's Eaton's downtown store to take a fast look at all the Eureka-made Vikings. I always felt that I was being "cheated" out of the real thing....:-)

Bran

Three are 2,secrets in the front by the handle and two scews in the rear of the vac
Then you take a small flat head screwdriver and gently pry it open along the seam around the top, then pull it apart.
Yes the cord wonder is on a slant .
And the motors are upside down. !

It was amazing just how much dirt accumulated in the " basement"
Once I put it all back together, and plugged it in , wow what powerful suction this old vacuum has,,

Btw. The Next spa day pics will be of my Turquoise Eureka canister with vibrabeat I just purchased from the original owner!!
Do , stay tuned and thanks for appreciating :))

Brad

Thank you for that informative answer Brad! Your Viking brings back so many childhood memories. *sigh* Love that Eureka Williams green on this unit. Also nice to know that they were powerful suckers too.

Nice to see you are getting these boys ready for Canada Day! :-)

Wow!  That turned out great!!!  Isn't it amazing that, with a little TLC, old vacuums just keep going and going and going...
