I have been a vacuum collector for a few years now. I found this Web sight and thought it will be fun to talk to other people that have the same passion as I do. I will post pics of my vacuum collection shortly.

Just a fun fact, today I just finished restoring a Fantom Cyclone XT

Welcome!! I am also a newer member and I joined for pretty much the same reason. I don't know many people personally that are into vintage vacuums or appliances. Other than fantoms, what other kinds of vacuums interest you?

I'm a newer member too (about a year now).

But be careful -- I tend to piss people off.

Welcome Matt to our club, I have been collecting more than 10 years, if you live with other family members who don't like your collection, in your home, it is best to keep them safe and lock in your room. Cuz my mother and my brother hates my vacuum collection, my mother tries to throw them out, to my alley a few times, or drop them hard to the floor, so they can break, and even my brother always says, they are a piece of junk. I go thur this every day. Don't give up Matt!! on your collection. I don't understand why old vacuums bother other people so much? I always keep them in my room, and most of them were, trash finds. So welcome to the club.

those unmentionables are way down in the deep cellar, where the dead bodies were/might still be.
Did you get your I.B.A.I S.A.I.C. shirt?

Sahrkwo7, wow! Your family doesn't like your hobby and tries to damage or toss out your collection? Holy moly. Can you afford to rent a small storage unit so you can keep your collection safe? I take it you are not old enough or have a good enough job to get a room mate and rent an apartment somewhere?

All the bad things a young man can get into in life, your family should be thankful you are into something as wholesome as collecting vacuums. Sorry to hear about your problems. We all understand.

Parents...LOL.... They should have a book out on how to raise them! And also relatives that don't understand..would make things so much easier...

My family think I'm crazy as sin... for a number of reasons.... but mostly for collecting vacuums.  Thankfully I live with just my 5 Danes (which they also don't understand) and they can't do anything about it. What surprises me most is that my mom collects all kinds of stuff, including vintage mixers from a variety of manufacturers and she can't see the parallel and I use all of mine except the few donor machines in the garage, and even they get used to keep the others in great shape with spare parts.
