My New (Obviously used) Hoover Anniversary Windtunnel Self Propelled 		[Down to Last]

I bought this on eBay for a little over $30.00 (that included Shipping.) Even thought the condition of the machine is a little rough, I thought it was a good deal. I haven't run it yet as I want to give it a good cleaning, new belts, and new filters before I do. I'm also out of type y bags and don't want to use any of my type A bags because I'm starting to run low on those as well. The machine was manufactured in March of 2009.

The Brushroll

 was chuck full of hair as you can see in the photos.

It took a while

 but I finally got the brush roll cleaned. There was A LOT of hair. I also took the end caps off and put a little bit of 3 in one oil that I had lying around on the brush roll bearings. The brush roll does look after market but it seems fine so I guess I'll keep it.

Hopefully

 Walmart or target sells both of the belts and both of the filters for this thing. I'd get them today, but payday isn't till tomorrow. I'll be getting new type y bags tomorrow for sure. I'm also gonna get a can of air and clean the motor housing out too because judging by how bad the brush roll and the one filter that the previous owner had on there were, it's probably really dusty.

Nice vac, and a nice job getting all that hair out. I just don't understand the people who do no maintenance at all... and never will. Great find at a great price.

Hoover

 Should prove to be a good vac at a good price.
Above brings back memories of a local customer who hand made wigs out of real hair and cleaned her workroom with an Elite!

It seems to work great as of now.

 It needs a new left wheel and may need some work done to the brushroll switch, but so far it doesn't smell like anything is burning and the motor sounds fine. Even though I had to buy a new motor, I still paid less to buy this machine and a new motor than I would've for a new SP Windtunnel. Even if I decide to buy all new attachments, it would still be under $200.

So After 6 years...

 I still have this vacuum and love it to pieces. Recent repairs include A New Nozzle head with before and after pictures:

I also:

 -Replaced the cord
-Replaced the original brushroll (which when I got it 6 years ago was caked with hair) as it was losing its bristles.
-Will be replacing the bag door and putting a new height adjustment label on the new nozzle hood.


However, I replaced the actuator arm for the self propel, as that being cracked was the main reason I took the vacuum apart in the first place and the self propel is still not working. What else could be broken? The self propel wheels still spin, so I don't know what it could be. Is it something inside the powerdrive transmission that's broken? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sensor is what I'm thinking. I did get a windtunnel anniversary edition in blue and gifted to a vacuum less co worker.
It is probably one of the few uprights that were well built.
There is a sensor gone awry or a switch stuck.

Between The Concept and the Wind tunnel,she have some mighty powerful machines.
You can still get bags easily. Do you really need some?
As far as the powerdrive, not really sure.
I have a Tempo, and numerous W Tunnels. I have both anniversary models, blue and silver. One was never used.

That brushroll.

 Cleveland Wood Products (CWP) became the OEM supplier of brushrolls to Hoover. There is no difference between the "Hoover" and CWP rollers since they are exactly the same and they have the same markings. Whenever I order brushrolls at the shop, the "Aftermarket" brushrolls are about half the price. The original Hoover brushrolls had no sealed bearings and would sometimes melt since they were plastic.

the CWP place. It was great. WE were also each given a 'brushroll of our favorite vacuum. My, HOOVER, is still unused. But, how we were treated was outstanding.
