An old lady is selling this on the local Craigslist .
She is asking $325 .

How much would be a fair price to pay for this vac ?
It does come with extra bags , all attachments , side kick and tested it out and it is a clean machine ,

$325 isn't a bad price considering it was $1500 new a few years ago. I'd pay it if I were looking for a legacy, or close to it anyway. It's a great vacuum with all attachments and in great shape from the pictures.

It's hard (for me) to give you an exact date on that vacuum. The plastic body vacs with tool storage on top started out being called the Epic 6000, in blue with ivory trim and steel wands. This was around 1992. A few years later, Electrolux added plastic wands and changed the name to the Epic 6500, still in blue. Then the color was changed to all gray (still an Epic 6500) to match the all-new Reniassance, which had replaced the last metal body 1251 canister. At some point, the Epic 6500 changed colors again, to a white body with gray trim (not the same as the recent Aerus of the same color scheme). This color is the hardest to find, at least with the Electrolux name on it. The final color combo to wear the Electrolux name was the white body, blue trim Epic 6500. This model was sold in the very late 1990s/early 2000s just prior to the name change to Aerus. The color scheme matched the updated Reniassance, which was renamed thd Guardian. When Electrolux changed named to Aerus in about 2003, the Epic 6500 was renamed the Lux 7000, but the color combination of white body, blue trim remained. Shortly after, Aerus changed the name to Lux Legacy and still kept the blue/which color scheme. This is the vacuum you've posted about... it should be about a 2005ish model, or roughly 7 to 9 years old. After "your" vacuum, the Lux Legacy was recolored with a white body and gray trim, almost identical to the earlier, short-lived Epic 6500 color scheme. Finally, the Lux Legacy was recolored to a black body, dark gray trim in 2014 for the 90th Anniversary.

What does all of this mean for the price of your vacuum? Well, not a lot. The price she's asking is near the top of what you'd see a Legacy/Epic sell for. Typically, the white/gray Lux Legacy models under the Aerus name bring the most money ($400-500) because they're nearly new. The early blue body Epic 6000 and 6500 models ($200-300) typically bring more money than the newer all gray 6500s ($100-300), probably because the blue color is so unusual. The white/gray 6500s are rare, but they usual bring the same as the blue 6500s ($200-300). The white/blue machines (Epic 6500, Lux 7000, and Lux Legacy) all go for the same price ($300-400), usually a little more than the blue 6500s and a little less than the white/gray Lux Legacy.

So yeah.. you're not getting ripped, that's for sure. It's priced right. If it was me, I'd care more about the looks, and I'd go with either an older blue older 6500 to save some money, or a newer white/gray Legacy to ensure it spent as little time as possible in the hands of someone who maybe didn't maintain it well. But they're all good looking machines. Except the all-gray ones from the mid 90s. Gross.

The lady selling

The vac says it's about 4 to 5 years old. .

It is a very clean vacuum and appears to have light use.
I easy thinking of offering her $200 cash,

I'm going to check in with her next week and go from there .
:)

$200 is a good number. Worst that can happen is she says no... more likely to accept or counter to split the difference

Oops. Sorry for all of the typos. I was way tired when I wrote that Epic/Legacy history. I also did it on my phone, which never helps accuracy.

I agree with the others that $200 would be a good starting point, but I wouldn't be afraid to go higher if she refuses.

I'm not sure that the machine is as new as 5 years old. That's the absolute newest it would be. I don't know the exact years of the Legacy models, but 2001 would have been the last year of the Electrolux Epic 6500 (white/blue trim), and 2002 would have been the first year of the Aerus Lux 7000 (white/blue trim). I *think* the name changed to Lux Legacy (white/blue trim) shortly after, so let's say no later than 2006. And the white/gray trim Legacy had a pretty long run, ending in 2013. They had to have started out life in at least 2009. I'd estimate that machine to be closer to 6 or 7 years old, not that it makes much of a difference. 5 years old though should probably have made it a white/gray machine instead of white/blue.

$200 seems like a good price

Although I only paid $100 for my legacy that is the all white with gray bumper. I think it's newer than this one. They also gave me a Riccar 8955 when I purchased my Lux

Why didnt Aerus call the Epic 7000/Epic 5000/Epic 5500/Epic 9000 instead of Lux?

I just picked up a Lux Renaissance

From the original owner for Twenty dollars
($20)
It came with a 1 year supply of bags and filters , mini PN and original hassock for storing.
It did need a $25 part for the hose .

Brad, that's a really nice Electrolux Renaissance you found there! Looks to be well cared for, & genuine bags used. I would bet this person upgraded after owning another model for several years, that would explain the hassock. One little thing I would caution you on though....when you can afford it in the near future, it might be smart to invest in a set of gray wands, especially if you can still get them new, & get a schematic for the hose handle & stock up on spare parts for it. The electronic controls on the hose were always a problem on the Renny, & ultimately why they switched to toggles by the time the Guardian was introduced. The Renny hose is now discontinued, & apparently from what I have found out is that a Aerus dealer would have to order all parts individually & assemble them himself to make a complete hose. So get in there & get those parts to keep your Lux in top shape.

On a side note....I hope to get one myself someday. Back when I was a teenager just out of high school, the local dealer in Barrie, Ontario, was showing off the Renny at a fair at my local mall, & I fell in love with it instantly! Just everything about it....the color, handle controls, wands, just seemed so sophisticated to use. I only wish I had money saved up back then :(

Yes I agree with that. I had mine looked at by Aerus & they told me the handles & control unit had already been rebuilt so I didn't have to worry about that & also some useful info she told me as not to drop the electronic control part as that's what makes them go bad, well that's what she told me. I couldn't find any dark colour wands but I did get the lighter coloured ones.
