I have one as well and I love it but for some reason I think that the bearings are going. I use it quite often. mine however has all of the onboard tools

I was wondering Kyle if you would post all of your dirt devil pictures on the Dirt Devil History forum. I think it would be Great!!!

Kyle, I think there's one down the highway from me just like yours. It needs a belt.

i love this one because it was NIB!! Right now it is NOS!!

And it's actually prettier than the one I found, although the one here isn't that bad. I think the shops here that would have yielded NOS products are long gone.

Real nice Kyle. And I for one would never complain about people "posting too much." My complaint is that people don't post enough -- and that more people don't take part in this wonderful club resource.

There are, what, some 200 members in the club now? Surely by now most of them -- except for the hold-out Luddites -- are on-line by now; yet less than a dozen or so people participate in an active and ongoing way. This joint could really be jumping if more people used it!

Kyle...

Congrats...these are getting harder and harder to find in this good of condition...did you get the box with it? I was wondering what the graphics on the box were like. Do you have the tools or did you just leave off the tool rack on purpose? I always liked this color and better yet, it cleans like a Hoover!

What's the model number of that Elite...?

I have one that's similar, I think...

I'll mention briefly that the sister site has a great deal more activity than this one, that was what attracted me, and most of those people have jobs, so that's not a valid excuse for lack of activity anywhere. I'm "retired" but I'm not glued to the computer 24/7 either.

Well, our sister site also has a lot more users, too... we have 175 subscribers here and aw.org has 767 --- but that still sidesteps my point that the vast majority of VCCC members do not use our forum!

This is the Elite 600.

Yup!

That's my personal favorite in the Elite line.

Alan,

I would rather have the Elite 600 then mine.
So neat

My Elite 600 looks just like yours Alan. Except for 1 minor detail, mine is the green one.

Thanks for the compliment Kyle. Outside of the looks of the two machines, what are the other differences? And in addition to green, were there any other colors?

Elites!

Kyle, I think you have a model U4617-920.

Here's mine--it's the machine I HAD to have when I was 10 years old... and sold my Nintendo to get. :)

If that is what yours it, you're missing the tool rack, and it's got the wrong handle... as the Elite never had a switch up on top like that--that was strictly a Legacy thing--at that time.

Rating Plate

Heres its rating plate. Note, the part of the sticker that would have had the "UL" logo on it has been cut off... Thats because this one was a "factory remanufactured" model (i.e. a return from wherever it was originally sold, then re-sold with a warranty through Hoover), and that's how Hoover distinguished these from being new; they cut that part of the label off.

I bought this from the Hoover store (which I later ended up working at), back in 1993, I think. I'll have to find the receipt.

Another Elite...

Here's another one that I got while working at Hoover--it came in for repair, and I think it needed a new fan. When the guy refused the estimate and bought a new cleaner, this one went home with me. It cleaned up real nice, and is one of my favorites of the Elite variety. I also had the same thing, in burgundy--like pictured above, but gave that to a neighbor who's brother needed a simple, good vacuum. Blue is my favorite color. :)

Encore!

This Encore (actually a BOL Elite, with a different name) was given to me by Jay Leno, when I was on his show. They asked me what I wanted--and this was it--at the time. In retrospect, I should have requested a TOL PowerMax, or something. :-)

Oh well, I wouldn't part with it for the world.

Thanks for showing these other vacuums. If I was buying a new one, I'd pick blue. Green would be a close second.

Fred, That blue Elite is the one I have except yours is in much better cosmetic condition. How do you get all the scuffs off the plastic?

Post# 28341 , Reply# 34   1/4/2008 at 09:21 (5,928 days old) by electroluxxxx (……)

Nice Pics If I were to get another elite it would have to be the Elite II in the Burgandy with the tools and hose.

Fred, I found an Elite II 430 yesterday like yours, heavy for a plastic unit, but I didn't buy it. It was in great shape.

That Elite II 430 was there again, and I discovered it has no tools, and has at least ten pounds of dirt in it! I didn't buy it. It is actually decent looking.

That is a later version of the Elite ll 430, this was the original version, see the lettering is different and has a different height adjustment.
