Hi everyone

Merry Christmas.

I picked up this powerhead a couple of weeks ago and, now that I have cleaned off the aluminum oxide and repainted it, I need some information about it. To begin with, am I correct in saying it should go with the model 88 mark II (see next picture post). I have this machine but it doesnt have a pn outlet on it. (I also have no idea what years either the machine or pn were made) Am I right in assuming it should have a cord that clips to the outside of the hose? As well, any idea where you would find such a cord, as I see that the plug has two different sized prongs. Any information would be helpfull as Airways are rarely seen around here (I dont believe they were ever sold in this area and, consequently, you only see the ones that people bring in)
Thanks for the help.
Doug

Air-Way powerhead

My parents bought their Air-Way 88 in 1963-64 time frame. We went to the factory in Toledo about 1974 and they replaced the top of the Sanitizor with a new 88 shell that had a plug-in for a power brush. They also sold her the power brush, hose and replaced the gray bumpers on the floor tools with the new color. The cord goes on the outside of the hose with attach strapes. They also gave me a tour of the factory which was fun!

Very interesting Rob, did you by any chance take any pictures when you toured the factory. I wonder when AirWay left Ohio?

air-way power head

No pictures, but I remember the huge lighted billboard sign on top the the building with the Air-Way script. I remember seeing the people polishing the tools and sewing the bag tops. The funny thing is that she never used the power brush or the new hose and when I went to use the new hose many years later it now looks perfect but leaks air. If I remember correctly they charged her $49.00 for the power nozzle, new hose and new bumbers for the floor tools because we were already Air-Way customers. What a bargin!
