Hello:

Last week, I discovered that a new Aerus/Electrolux store had opened up near me in Marietta, GA. I went in yesterday for a new PN cord, and found that they have a very nice collection of vintage Luxes. There was a Model V, an XI or XII, a XXX, a G, an L, a Super J, an Olympia One, a Silverado, and a Diamond Jubilee. All seem to be in "as found" condition, and none have their hoses, PNs, wands, or attachments, just the canisters. But it was nice to see some machines that I've never seen before, particularly that Model V, which I've only ever seen in photographs.

The store is at 595 Roswell Street, not too far from the Square in Marietta, for those who are familiar with the town. The young Asian woman who was on duty when I went in was very friendly and helpful, though she's obviously new to the vac community- she was flabbergasted to have a customer who not only knew what the vintage machines were, but who was buying a part for a Model L. I gave her Vacuumland's URL; she was amazed that there are collectors. She's not the owner; a VP of Aerus owns the location, I understand.

Anyway, the collection is worth a look for Lux aficionados, and the store is nice.

Well, Well,

Long time no post....Thanks for the info. I would like to see another V. If that is as XI, I'd like to see that as well! I don't get up to Mayretter too often, but might have to make a special trip just to get some bags. Even though I pass a Lux dealer twice every day on the way to work!

Rick:

I think it'll be worth your time, even though the V and the VI (or VII) are in "as-found" condition. The store is nice, and the Asian lady I mentioned is extremely courteous.

One thing boggled my mind- in the back there are maybe twelve or fifteen new Lux Guardians sitting wrapped in plastic, ready to go. At $1800 a pop, that's a lot of money. Business must be good to have that kind of inventory on hand!

There is a new Aerus place near me-haven't gone into it or talked to the owners. As I drive by,just see new models-no oldies. They also advertise with a banner over the door--"We repair all makes"and another banner in the window reads-"New!Owned by new management!"Haven't driven by the old location to see the fate of the older store-was a treasurehouse until they threw machines away-didn't save them. Was located by a vet clinic on one side and Rainbow on the other. At one time Kirby was in that same business center too-made it easy to check on all of them!
