This cropped up very near me on ebay last week. Obviously I won, and the seller dropped it off at my house as it came from London, where he was during the week, and he passes my house to get home to Long Crendon!

A quick test releaved it was clogged to heck in the baseplate and the belt has snapped...

The bearings fell out next!

And then I took the brush strips out...

Quick clean up with the miele and I took the bumper off

Damn shame, dont suppose anyone has a brown bumper spare do they? Could swap it for a 1334 one!

I undid these screws next

And broke it all down

Took the washing machine hose out next

Motor cover off next

Carbon everywhere! I then realised that the cables dont come off the motor (its been a while since I've had a 500 series!), so started at the top...

Sponge was in good condition

Took the bag full indicator off next

Motor wire pulled through, I could finally get the motor out

Shiny...

Mr Gooch then told me to man up and give the bag indicator knob a twist and out it came and apart it went!

From Electrolux Z502

I've just washed it this morning, and the filters came up like new, so no need to buy replacements then, which is good as their more expensive than I remember now on ebay, and Qualtex havent got any :(

From Electrolux Z502

And its all drying in the airing cupboard ready to go back together tomorrow night!

From Electrolux Z502

I soaked the brushroll bearings in LHM overnight, and whilst they spin smoothly now loads of black crap oozes out of them. Is there a way to strip them apart to clean and re-pack with grease?

From Electrolux Z502

Oh and the ratings plate fell off whilst washing so I'll glue it back on at the end!

Have had an interesting email from the seller an hour ago too, but more on that tomorrow...!

I have belts in the post too, which is nice, and found half a pack of genuine bags (and about 30 non genuine ones!) in the shed too, which is nice!

Whilst the parts dried I took the brushroll bearings apart to clean and re-grease them. Then I learned that they werent supposed to be taken apart, which makes sense as they were a bastard to put back together and some damage did occur!

From Electrolux Z502

Then I took the shroud off the motor

From Electrolux Z502

Greased the top bearing as it would have been rude not to

From Electrolux Z502

From Electrolux Z502

And gave the cord a good clean with Cif

I got quite into it and forgot to take any pictures!

Found some NOS bags, and have 2 spare filters now which is nice!

From Electrolux Z502

Dont have any belts so found one that roughly fits for now. Proper belts in the post!

From Electrolux Z502

And all roughly polished and lovely!

And yes, the seller found 95% of the toolkit! Paid another £5, as the advert did say no tools, but he didnt know what they were for and asked me!

From Electrolux Z502

And with the weekends haul in full

From Electrolux Z502

Last night I got the toolkit together and gave it a clean

And all clean and shiny! Just need to wait for the belts now!

And then had a good run round with it!

Hoping the new belt lessens the brushroll noise, or it's new bearings time!

Looks great. Nice job on the cleaning. Glad you managed to get the attachments too. Completes the set. (now all you need is the crevice tool and manual)

I did ask if he had the manual, he said he would look. I think I have a white lux crevice tool in the shed too!
