Hey Guys,

I need a little bit of help. I have my eye on a blue Hoover Convertible Estate and a burgandy/white Hoover Convertible U4387. I'm trying to decide on which one to purchase for my collection. I will use it, of course, but it will mainly be for "looks". I would like some feedback on which would be the better model to go with. Thanks!

Michael

My 2 cents....

I personally would go with the Estate model, dating 1977-1980 before Hoover went all plastics for their bases. The color names are Sea Blue and Oyster white. It has the A bag system I believe, metal based, just overall a nicer, classier model than the later all plastic versions. You asked for advice/suggestions, but this is just an opinion! I have the preceding Convertible Elite model, dating 1975-1977, in Maple Sugar tan with Oyster white trim. It's one of my favorite go-to convertibles in my rotation of uprights, and it will be a quieter model than the later ones with the all plastic bases.

Sadly after the estate name on this model was later changed to elite it was changed to plastic and the end of its run.

Of course, I'd say

Get them both, naturally. BUT, If I had to choose ONE, I'd say "Estate". Phillip is absolutely correct. Estate became Elite.... then,, "Elite" changed completely at the end of beloved Convertible.
