I cracked just now and ordered some stuff I've been meaning to get for a while...

New Turbopower motor bearings!

I need to get a small bearing puller (have one in my watch list but cant afford it for a while), but has anyone ever taken the bearing off a Hoover TP Armature?

Is it not too bad to get off? How do you get it back on? I have some deep sockets I could use to tap them down, after shining the rod it fits to up and using a drop of oil, but is it that simple?

I aim to do a comparison between:

Dry horrible bearings (think I have a machine still that I havent touched, if not then I have old dry bearings I can fit to a motor...)

Refurbished motor and brushroll bearings - pop the metal cap off the motor bearings, free them up with a drop of LHM then repack them with grease, and split the brushroll bearings apart and pack with grease (already have a few greased activators, will just pop the motor out and grease up...)

Brand new motor and brushroll bearings. I have a set of new brushroll bearings fitted to my U2334 and it is ALOT smoother. May replace the motor bearings on that first as its half way there.

Reckon this is a worthwhile excersise or a pointless excuse to potter? TBH I may replace the bearings in ALL the machines, especially at 80p a shot, prolong them for decades more. But I may as well document if it actually does buggar all first! (Vids of before and after etc, or a group test)
