I'm a new member and I know there are probably some members that buff kirbys to like new condition. I have a heritage 2 that needs some scratches taken out and buffed. I've seen some kirbys on this site that look awesome after they have been re-done.

Please let me know if anyone can do this for me. I will pay postage both ways plus $ for your work. Its in great shape otherwise just needs a little shine.

thank You and I am pleased to be a new member. Mark!

Pictures?

I'd like to see pictures, particularly the "scratches". I've been told a sisal wheel and emory compound can take them out. I'd love to see before and after of this process. BTW, you're looking at around $50.00 just for shipping it back & forth.

I will try and take some pics. Not deep scratches

I buff Kirby's

Most scratches have to be sanded out with emery cloth I use tripoli bar hard wheel ,tripoli compound soft wheel, green compound hard wheel, green with soft wheel, white hard wheel, white soft wheel.before buffing clean surfaces with a WD- 40 and a brown coarse scotch bright pad.

That machine will have to be pulled apart to buff it. May as well recondition it while it's apart. Does it need bearings, brushes, bumpers, bulb, lubrication, wheels, or anything else? Bag conversion? Now would be the time to do it.

There's an outfit that specializes in reconditioning these machines, and I'll be darned if I can find a link for their store, which is pretty darn strange to me. Don't know how much they charge, or if they're well regarded, but here's a link for more info:

Check with your local Kirby dealer. My local guy charged me $75 and put on a new belt AND an NOS outer bag on my kirby 519. Don't get too excited guys , it was a newer version.

I would definitely check with a local vacuum shop or Kirby dealer. In the end, it will probably be just as cheap or cheaper than sending to one of us. I buff my own machines, but it is a pretty detailed process.
