Went to a couple of Goodwills. The first had a Hoover Concept 2 that has been there for over a week, it's still there. The second had this little find. A Rainbow D3C with dolly, 2 hoses, 2 basins, Power nozzle, and a box of attachments plus wands for $49.99. I grabbed the vac, plugged it in, everything sounded fine, grabbed a cart and loaded it all in then headed straight to the checkout. Took a pic of it in the bed of the truck. The power nozzle just needed a belt. Spent a couple of hours cleaning the fans and the rest of it.

The Rainbow D3C was the first model to use a double-insulated, two-prong cord for the connection between the power nozzle and the main unit. That was in late 1981.

Excellent find, Ray. I rarely find any vacuum cleaners at my local Goodwill. In fact, I've never seen an Electrolux canister at any local thrift store or Pawn America.

What all do you collect anyway?

Great find!

I love my D3C so much. Though, you paid about 1/3 of what I paid for mine.

I had been looking for a Rainbow for a while so I finally choked and bought it on eBay.

I have Electrolux, Kirby and Rexair / Rainbow

Electrolux from Model 11 through an Aerus Lux Classic. I found an Electrolux Epic 6000 SR at a Goodwill 2 weeks ago for $10. I posted pictures of that. I have a couple of model 60's ( I love when the front drops down and a few seconds later the vacuum spits out the bag ) One of the model 60's I got at Goodwill and I think I got my model 61 at the Salvation Army.

Kirby from 509 through D80.

Rexair A, B & C

Rainbow D3C and E. The E (single speed) I found at Goodwill for $35

Oh, the Goodwill in St Charles had an Orange and White Hoover Dial O Matic with all the attachments the other day for about $8. I left it there.

Sounds like you have a nice collection with some variety. Interesting too, that you live in Hinsdale. I had an aunt & uncle who lived in Lisle for about 20 years, then moved back to Ohio. First time we visited them (in 1963 or 64) they took us to see the old Graue Mill and the zoo at Brookfield. This was the same aunt & uncle whom I told the story in a previous post of how they met while he and another uncle were selling Electro-Hygienes!
Also had a friend from Mansfield, OH (where I grew up) that moved to Woodridge when we were about 9 or 10 and I used to go and visit him when we were in the area.

Cleaned up the Rainbow and it's off to a new home, I gave it to a friend of mine. He wanted my Rainbow E, I told him when I found another Rainbow I would give it to him.

Jeff
My x-roommate was from Celina around Grand Lake St Mary's. He went to Mansfield College since some of the buildings on campus were named after family members.
