Hi I love my Electrolux Silverado deluxe and it does lose suction as the germ grabber bag fills but I can't get it to pop open and shut it self down. It is even on the coarse dirt setting so is the pop open mechanism messed up or is the bag just not yet full enough to pop the machine on the coarse dirt setting?

Thanks for your input.

The normal

setting on the Silverado is four bars. This is the setting to pop open. Higher takes longer and less opens sooner.

Or the Automatic Control dial knob is broken/worn

Problem solved

These germ grabbers just take forever to fill and I had my Silverado Deluxe set on coarse dirt therefore it took forever for the bag door to pop open. Will it pop open sooner if I use generic bags as my Aerus dealer is a 30 minute drive away.

Thanks for everything

Generic Bags? Well there goes that warranty ;)

I know the WalMart carries the Arm & Hammer bags that seem to work well.

Actually before he went out of business a vacuum sweeper shop gave me this Electrolux second hand. It needed some work  actually twice(I did myself). It now works ever since. This lux is older than me. I do not believe it would have come with a warranty how I got it.

I'll whenever I can get genuine Aerus bags though.

Sometimes if you hit it right you can run across a box of Electrolux bags at thrift stores for next to nothing. I've picked up an unopened box of the GermGrabbers for $2 then another time I found a box of Home Solutions with 19 of the 24 bags in the box at the Salvation Army for I think it was $3.

Aerus will also mail them to you, or at least the dealers around here will.

I used to work as a stockman years ago at Electrolux, and it seems to me that there is a tube that collects dust sometimes and causes the automatic control to not register correctly. I think it is on the bottom at the front?
