Hello everyone, I've had this for about a month now but I haven't actually posted about it yet. This is my Kirby 512 that I got for $36 at an antique store, the lady working there had no idea what to make of an 18 yo buying an older vacuum. I really like it, I've given it a slight polish, and I also cleaned out the bag and sew up a hole in it. Then I changed the brushroll out because the brushes were completely worn down.

hi!

You're also in Florida, aren't you? Land-O-Lakes is a town here, you know!

Kirby has always been powerful cleaner, power that they keep over the DECADES!

You're new here too, aren't you?

Very nice. I see your 512 has the original cord -- treat it very lovingly and carefully, and treasure it! You can hardly ever find those cords with the large, round machine-end plugs any longer.

I am new to this site, I do like it! And I am in Florida, I've been here three years, but I'm from Massachusetts. I do like this cord BTW, but it likes to slip off, and it's short. Also, I'd like to get peoples opinions on something, should I get the Lexan fan for this?

The best thing to do is to "Liquid Stitch" a piece of fabric on the reverse to fix the holes in your bag - it won't dimple you shake-out. Besides, it just plan looks better. Nice machine, and welcome to the forum.

Welcome! Glad to find another member of your generation who can appreciate a good piece of ANALOG equipment! BTW, I am 6 years older than your Kirby and still function quite well, and the Kirby that led me to this site is a model C-R, sucking since 1934.

I live near Tampa. Thanks for the advice Calem, I the hole was at the bottom of the bag and it hasn't had a problem.
Steve I don't understand why more people don't like vacuums, I have since I was two with my Kirby G5.

My mother took pictures of me playing with the attachments for her "Coffee Can" Hoover around 1949
