They have been around since the 30's and offer a full line of vacs.
This model (at link below) looks to be a Tacony product.

The ST-400 really *does* look like a rebadged Numatic, right down to the cord reel and switches, and those uprights do look like Simplicity 6-series equivalents. Still, that makes them quality products, I'd say.

The ST-450, on the other hand, is an interesting design - never seen anything like it.

BTW, that power nozzle appears to be a Wessel Werk EBK340, same one shipped with the Silver King and a few others.

The machine in the picture is a rebadged Centaur SL-3 canister equipped with a Plastiflex direct connect hose setup along with a Wessel Werk EBK 340. As Eric mentioned, the other "Sterilaire" machines appear to be rebadged Numatic machines.

As for Centaur, they're a commercial vacuum and floor equipment manufacturer in Markham, Ontario.

Centaur!

Alrighty then, how do they perform? Their website says they have the biggest Hepa filters out there. To bad the Canadian dollar took off otherwise these could sell here in the States for far less.
Great vacs live on in the Commercial space no doubt. Smart move for this company to repupose them for home use.

Centaur manufactures extremely rugged, heavy duty machines. It's difficult to find a commercial machine today that is better constructed than a Centaur. Now that I see it being sold as a residential machine, it should survive well under abusive conditions...

The only negative I see with the "SterilAire" is its listed price... An SL-3 configured with the Plastiflex setup and Wessel Werk EBK 340 should sell closer to $899, not $1695.

Price aside, the SL-3 recently was upgraded from the Ametek Lamb 116311 to the 115923, so the most modern variant is more powerful.

I personally own two Centaurs, an SL-2 (predecessor to the SL-3) and an SL-6. So I can vouch for their quality!

Question, does the steralaire  combination tool fit on most 1 1/4 inch vacuum fittings? If so I want that tool. Will for sure recommend these vacuums for my friends.

those are fantasic machines! How completly unexpected and cool looking. I'm telling you i am flabergasted these are not better known and loved among collectors. Being pretty rare if not completely unknown in the US market may have something to do with it of course. The Sterileaire variation may help but i'd rather have a colorful Centaur like yours.
I might start looking online for a used one near my where my friends live in British Columbia and have them send it to me...may take a while, but that's okay. Of course we may be able to work a trade out for one of my machines, what might you be looking for?
So glad you posted, this is a real find for me.

I really like the looks of that machine, I suspect I'll keep an eye out for one used for a lowish price.

Never heard of this brand before-in looking at the website link-appear to be very nice premium quality machines. You would think this is a DTD brand-the site doesn't show any dealers-looks like you order directly from them. The central vac they show appears to be one of the Tacony ones.

Again replying to a old thread.

The ST-300 and ST-350 are rebadged Numatic "castle top" style machines.

The STC-400 appears to be a rebadged Kerstar Prima

And as said before the ST-450 is a Canadian Centaur machine

I have 2 SterilAire machines in my collection. One is a rebadged Cadillac 2 speed tank machine from the late 1940's and one is a rebadged Eureka swivel top from the 800 series (the first ones).
