Of attachments and a nice hose, And it would have been much more enjoyable...But the bags, while of superior quality, are small and VERY expensive. |

I actually think Miele's smaller cleaning tools are excellent.
If you think they're bad quality, the ones that Bosch supply on their vacuums are worse and infact Bosch don't even produce a dusting brush for most of their cylinder vacs. When I come to think of it, most of the tools other brands have including Hoover Europe are marginally better than Bosch but most of their dusting brushes for example are fixed position and don't move at angles. The upholstery tools aren't any better, and often lack the twin lint pickers that Miele put in for free. |

The reason Miele uses these hoses is because they are lighter and crushproof. All of the wire reinforced hoses that I see on vacuums, with few exceptions, have sport where they've been "ovalled" by squishing. I hostly really do like my Mieles. I've personally seen a Miele that some guy ran over with his car and it didn't damage it!

What's most disturbing about Miele, is that in the USA they are very expensive - but in Europe they cost less than a Dyson. Miele positioned themselves to be the "BMW" of vacuum cleaners, but they are nothing other than a mediocre vacuum. The "Barbie's Dream House" dusting brush is a joke, as is their model 217 worthless power nozzle. Four bags for $22 makes me want to go bagless all the way. In 20 years, I'll never spend $22 for water for my Rainbow.

While I do love my Mieles, I won't deny that the Rainbow E Series definitely out cleans it by a mile (but lets face it, few machines clean like a Rainbow! and I think the SE PN2 and E series style PN is the best they made, and one of the best PNs ever made) and I do feel Tacony's lineup of canisters is finally caught up to the build quality of the Miele, and the performance has surpassed Miele. But Miele still makes a vacuum that I feel comfortable selling. My bigger issue is the price of parts, even compared to other German vacuum parts the Miele parts are insanely overpriced.

Not only is Kirby expensive but so is Oreck and forget that we get the same models as you guys do in the U.S!
Oreck UK still haven't managed to source either new Touch bagless upright or their Magnesium upright here whilst the prices of close to £400 are ridiculous. The Truvox Valet upright from the U.S also costs £200 to £250 on average but then £21 for 10 genuine dust bags. |
