Hi everyone,

After 6 months of waiting, I was finally able to get 4 new "grooveless" agitator ends for the U1025 Junior and 1020 Convertible beater bars to accomodate the new bearings, and was looking forward to installing them. However, when I actually went to install them, I encountered one small problem: they don't fit! Apparently the brush strip helix pattern on the beater bar does not match up on how the ends insert!

I checked with a Houston Hoover parts distributor, and they said that the old-style bearings, felt washers, and triangle clips have been discontinued, and the style of end that doesn't work is the only kind they have. Not to mention the fact that the beater bar agitator assembly for the Convertibles is NLA, and the Junior assembly of course isn't around, so as of now, I'm basically s**t out of luck. Will get around to returning the (useless) parts soon and check with some other places, but I doubt I will get anywhere.

So now I ask, does anyone have any of these crucial parts they would like to sell? I need either 4 old-style bearings, felt washers, and triangle clips, or new "grooveless" agitator ends that will fit in the old-style agitators. PLEASE let me know as I would really appreciate it.

Addition to original posting

I will also gladly take, instead of the parts above, 2 complete, working agitator assemblies; 1 Junior assembly and 1 Convertible assembly. The bearings do need to be in good shape, but I have my own brush strips, so it does not matter if the brush strips are worn or missing.

Thanks again everyone.

Hey Austin...

Wow.. someone in Houston doesn't know what they're talking about!!

In fact, the old bearings--part number 012978-- ARE still available... we have some sitting on our shelf.
And, after looking it up, there is an agitator end available with a groove in it (for the old setup).

We also have some felt seals (also still available), and it may be a stretch, but I'd have to look for some triangle clips... I know those have been discontinued. Maybe Tom or Jeff would have some.

Shoot me an email.

Yes...I am sure that I have what you are looking for...just email me if you want. What I have would be used if that is ok.

Hi Tom & Fred, thank you for the kind offers. Tom, I sent you an email about the parts to the address in your profile.

It seems that the guy who runs this particular store is in a BIG hurry to eliminate the old parts from the database. He carries few parts for older machines, and even receives the machines themselves frequently, but throws them out. Last week he threw out a vintage Constellation! Needless to say I'm calling the place tomorrow and will see if I can't get my hands on anything vintage that comes through there. If they can't be saved, at least I'd have some good parts machines.
