Need some tips on loss of suction for my Hoover. Prior to talking it apart for cleaning to resell, I found that it really doesn't have that great of suction. once apart I turned it on and its got great force out the exhaust port before it enters the bag. I am in the process of getting new bearings for the brush roll and hope that helps as these current ones are original to the vacuum.

Thank you

Jay

There is no loss of suction!

Those convertibles could whoop a Dyson senseless in a cleaning competition, and with half the power and half the suction!

You have a LOT to learn, you don't need all those big amps and strong suction to clean carpets! The convertible was never a strong candidate suction wise, but like I said, it didn't need strong suction!

But just in case- check your bag! Go ahead and change the paper bag (Type A for a Decade 800) and see if that doesn't help.Wink

Thanks for the info. I have the tool kit and that's when I noticed how low the suction was. My Electrolux Marquee (favorite out of all my vacuums) has way more suction. But this is a much different kind of machine. With the bad bearings in the brush it may be causing drag on the motor. Fan blades are top notch and that was my first thought to low suction.

You can't

Compare an upright like that to a canister the tools always had low suction compared to a canister .

Your bag will inflate more as the bag fills! This is due to when pores on any vacuum bag or filter get clogged with dirt, the air can't escape as fast so the bag inflates firmer. With fan blades in great condition and brush roll in great condition the machine should be in good shape!! Fan blades and fan chamber should be clean though!! Use Genuine Hoover Type A bags. The new HEPA style bags will work phenomenal!! I see the package of Genuine Hoover round belts, so great job on that!!

That's a great machine. With machine running on an area rug, you should notice the machine will lift up the carpet at the edges. It is working properly if it does that. Canister vacs and this will have very different hose suction!!

Thanks guys for the input ... will soon see as im off to the vac shop to get me some parts LOL. If you know anyone who is looking for an excelent Hoover Decade to add to their collection let me know. Im working my way up to the newest Electrolux to add to my collection so parting with this unit and my Elecrolux Gardian 75th aniversry in white and light gray, not the ugly blue one! Great machine, but I like my Renisance better :)

That did the trick!! Now its leaving better grooming marks in the carpet and best of all when I hook up the tool adapter its holding my fingers to the inlet!!

Oh wonderful!!! Glad something worked. You will see wonderful grooming marks from this machine. Guess I should have mentioned it earlier, but make sure belt is installed the right direction. You want brush rotating dirt up towards the fan.

Thanks Durango159, it is and it's newer too and I know that also makes a huge difference on these machines 😃
