I just purchased a nice 1959 Hoover Constellation Model 87.
My question is: What is the proper color of the attachments? Is it the white
or tan color. Is the rug nozzle the older shaped or does this Connie have the "new" streamlined type?

If I could ever figure out my new laptop I will post pictures.

Thanks Guys!
Eric

Hoover 87

I think is green with remote switch. If so the rug/floor is the 'new' style in green. All other atts are white. There were some good color ads including in American Home and others promoting the remote switch(a Hoover first).

Thanks! The Hoover is green and it does have the switch on the handle.
The 87 was only produced in 1959. It seems quite a few people got a good shock from touching the opening at the canister. I am sure that I can fix it. I was researching the Connie before I bought it.

Geeze! I have NEVER seen a green rug nozzle. I've only seen white, tan, brown and blue. I will be looking!

Thanks rugsucker!

Have a look through the attached thread from the much missed Aeolian Dave, which includes an analysis of the 87

also red

There was also a red rug/floor with a red/white connie of early 60s.Many variations when you go back to the first non floater, then some with cardboard tool caddys, some tilt base, one with removable wire tool rack, later swing down tool holder, etc, etc.one of the great retro vacs.Enjoy!
