Does anyone know how to access the bulb so I could put a new one in? The lens doesn't seem to pop out.

Hi! You appear to have a LOVELY blue HOOVER Convertible model 70 of the Early 1960s! (John Long will be able to tellou the EXACT date).

For bulb replacement, Be a dear and stop trying to pry the lens out. You'll mark it all up. turn the cleaner over, being sure to place the hood on a soft towel for protection, you'll find 2 screws on each side of the base, to the left and right of the main suction channel. remove these two screws and the hood should plop right off with ease! this allows access to the motor compartment, and right in front of the motor is the headlamp! Here's an image from a quick Google search, you'll find the screws just to the side of the cleaner's intake in plain sight!

Just a suggestion:

Especially with newer hoods, (the 70 is stronger). I put ther lower wattage bulkb in, to reduce heat and potential warping. I was told to do that at HOOVER.
I'll post some pics of mine later.
It's a great machine. 1964......
