Our Hoover Turbopowers that were launched in 1983, are built of very thin, fragile plastics, and also run on 240V AC, so even if you were able to get a step up transformer, its unlikely that a Turbopower 1 would survive the journey to Ohio without suffering damage. Not to mention how much it would cost to ship one to the US from the UK.

They really aren't as wonderful as you might think, and were a real step down in quality from the old Hoover soft bags they replaced.

You already have them in the US anyway - they are called the Hoover Sovereign over there:

yea the Hoover Sovereign are extremely rare to find here I have 4 hoover innovation turbomasters one is brand new can you get the air freshner disc

The air freshener discs went out of production years ago - I haven't seen any on Ebay or anywhere else, so unless a collector has a hoard of them, then they are long gone to buy new. I think the Turbopower 1 I have still has the original one still in it from when it was made in 1988 - needless to say it doesn't smell any more.

Funnily enough, There's one seller that appears to have some, but they don't appear to ship to the USA, - you could always ask them nicely?

I prefer the Turbopower 2 to be honest - better made, and clean air system with much better filtration. I've never had a Turbomaster or Turbolite to be able to comment on them. I did like the features that came on the Turbomaster though like the variable power control, and LED lights. The Turbomaster was fragile though, like the Turbopower 1, and susceptible to fan damage and excessive vibration - and not many survive today. The Turbopower 2 was much more reliable and came with gadgets like Autosense, onboard tools and stretch hose.

Air Fresheners

There were a fair few for sale on Ebay last year, I bought 10 packs... Have 6 left now, although have about that many turbopowers in need of them so I hope more get listed soon!I have the earlier style packaging, although did get a later style air freshener with a Compact unused last week!

I feel the need to stick up for the Turbopower 1's here! I've used 119's, 262's, 912a's, 1334's etc and I've found nothing that works as well as a good condition TP1.

HooverOhio - I have a 1987 Turbopower Junior U1222 Electricity Board special that you are welcome to have! Is missing its lower cord hook, and is 240v, but would package up better in stripped down form, less to break being a soft bag!

It'll weigh about 10kg, in a possibly 30x40x20cm box (rough figures). Feel free to do a quote for shipping from my work at
TNT Post

Fieldhouse Lane

to get an idea of shipping. I imagine it would cost a fortune, and I would strip it down fairly well to ensure it was in 1 piece at the other end (wheels and hood of etc)

Let me know! Doubt it would be worthwhile but you're welcome to it!

If you found an old Sovereign motor or other 400w dirty fan unit that worked in american currency it may possibly retrofit...

Just for the sake of comparison, here is what the Turbopower Junior looks like next to an "Elite".
