Todays pod makes me thinks of my first vac , A Electrolux xxx/ When i was 8 or 9 the lady next door got new wall to wall carpet, She had a xxx and decided that she wanted a new upright. She bought a new Kirby. She put the xxx out for the trash people, Well I quickly went and got it. It had all the attachments , box and owners guide .. Look like she hardly ever used it.. Mom came into my room and went wild, "Your not keeping that junk in my house" she bellowed . I said its much better than the westinghouse tank cleaner we have. Look the floor brush has never been used. She grabbed it up and said" I'm going to use it" And she then spanked me with it. I still remember to this day how those brushes hurt. When I got in from school the next day it was gone . I never could find out what she did with it. Things were never the same between us after that.. I know that today they would call it child abuse and put her away. I also remember when she got mad at dad one time and chased him around the house and out into the yard banging him over the head with the floor nozzle of the old westinghouse, That was a nice show for the neighbors to see her chasing him hose wands and all and hitting him.with the nozzle.. After that he traveled more..I think just so he did not have to come home so much .. Really it was a bit funny though.

Wow.....

Wow how incredibly sad but true. I know alot of my friends have similar storys of their parents. As well as my own father spanking/beating me for certian things I did and I am srue I deserved some punishment, but not the beatings. To this day I do not like someone goofying around and they spank me on my behind. It brings back many bad memories.

On the other side I did that same adventure on a slide projector my folks had. My father had bought a new carousel Kodak slide projector and was going to give the old one which was kept in its orginal box, to the Good Will. I ran and put in my room in the corner and after I got home from school, it was gone. It did make me sad to see that go. The reason we got a new one is the old kept jamming and then ruining a slide, so my father it time to get a new one.

My experience

Well I have to say it started when I was 3 or 4 yrs old and I remember at first My parents tried like hell to make me not like vacuum cleaners but when They saw I wasn't giving in. I think they excepted it, In Fact I remember I was 5 yrs old and Santa brought me A vacuum cleaner an ironing board and an iron plus a floor polisher- all toys not the real thing. What would upset my parents was the fact that where ever they went I had to hunt down the vacuum cleaner and the floor polisher. At first they used to punish me for it, but when they saw I wasn't giving up, My mother would warn there friends that after I felt comfortable there, that I would hunt down there vacuum cleaner. Most of them would go get it for me and let me Vacuum there house. I can also remember riding my little red bike up and down our street and when I would hear a vacuum cleaner or polisher goingf I would go look thru the big picture window and watch them vacuum, Some of them would let me in and watch them vacuum and sometimes would let me vacuum.even now at 50 yrs old I still do look to see what kind of vacuum cleaner they have but I don't go looking in there closets like when I was younger and if it is out I will look.
