Good Evening,

I recently acquired a 1205 turbo tool along with my mint Model G. I have no idea how to use it. It appears to have a plastic plug in which to put solution into the onboard tank. Does anyone out there in VACUUMLAND have the directions. It did come with a plastic tray to rest the turbo tool during use. Please help.

Thank you and a great evening to all,

Richard

U connect hose to suction end of vacuum; the suction powers the rotary brush

Black bristle brush for shampooing carpets & rugs

Tan bristle brush for polishing, waxing & scrubbing hard surface floors

Turbo Tool

Rick,

Thank you so much for the printed information on the use of the Turbo Tool/Rug Washer. It is very informative and helpful.

Sincerely,

Richard T. Mancuso

Hello, Richard,

For your information the Rug Washer attachment you have originally went with the aqua Model G (1961-1966) and ivory Model L (1962-1966). It was the first color scheme of the attachment which replaced the similar Turbotool in 1962.

The Rug Washer that originally went with the 1205 (1968-1973) and the teal Model L (1968-1973) is this one (same colors but different arrangement):

Below is the Turbotool attachment (I mentioned in my previous reply) in the same ivory and teal trim colors.

Initially spelled "Turb-O-Tool" when it debuted in 1956 (and changed around a year later to "Turbotool"), it contained a variety of air-powered accessories including the rug washer which was introduced in 1958. The photograph below is equipped with the polisher accessory; not the rug washer.

It went through three color schemes during its 6-year run: hammertone blue & gray-blue bumper (matching the Automatic E), gray base and ivory tank (matching the Model F and Model R), and this one (matching the aqua Model G and ivory Model L). Incidentally, one wonders if the originally-intended color scheme for the Model G was that of the ivory Model L, because the powered rug attachments were ivory; not aqua. I'm thinking that aqua may have been selected later to differentiate the Hospital Model Gs which were painted ivory.

Prior to that was the Polisher & Scrubber attachment (for furniture and floors) which went back to the early 1940s and had also been painted and/or trimmed in different color schemes to match the current vacuum cleaners/attachment trim of each period. I believe Charles Richard Lester has an extensive collection of these.

Perhaps more information than you cared to have, but it may be of use to you or others who are trying to match original attachments to their machines.

Instructions for the Floor Scrubbing Parts

Hi,
I read through this post and I only read that the scrubber brush and ring are available as accessories. I have both those pieces and am looking for the instructions on how to use the scrubber. I found an online photo (included) which shows an older user manual (for both rug washer and floor polisher). Does someone have this or another version which shows how to use the scrubber brush that they could upload?

Also, is it safe to put wax stripper into the rug washer's shampoo container when using the scrubber brush to strip wax floors?

No I just pour the wax stripper directly onto floor then scrub with the Rug Washer or B8 (with tan bristle scrubbing brushes & 'steel wool' pads)

If U put wax or stripper into the Rug Washer or B8 shampoo tank you'll have a clogged shampoo tubing
