Today I bought a hoover elite 2 for $45....it was reconditioned with a new brush roll a wooden agitator...new paper bag...new headlight bulb...and a new belt... it was built back in October 1992.

Congrats on the elite! I have an earlier one. They are good carpet cleaners but they are as noisy as hell.

ya know, the five amp Elites are not too noisy. its really unfortunate that Hoover chose to up the amps on these models because its just not needed. the five amp models are VERY powerful. ive also noticed that the five amp models are the most rare.

i refurbished my own Elite and have rebuilt another for the maintenance man here at my apartments. the construction is so... simple. its inexpensively constructed. the belt change is ridiculous. the super deluxe tools on board hard-case models are silly IMO.

but the early models are kinda nice, like this one. and they clean very very well.
