Well the Eureka airspeed one was not cutting it for the wood stove, surprising since the dual cyclonic Fantom handled this job with ease, however I have pretty much retired every working Fantom to occasional use only due to rarity.
So I stopped at Ollie's today and they were selling off all the old Bissell displays dirt cheap. Of the displays this 9 cyclone healthy home was cream of the crop. Prior to this, my only Bissell was the garage vac which trades duty with an old Kirby.
The results were surprisingly good. Like The Fantom Thunder and Dyson it has enough motor power to spin most of the ash dust out (I don't generally use the Dyson for this, it was a one time emergency). I put a test cloth in front of the foam prefilter as a precaution but it did mighty well, vacuumed all the ash up, barely any loss of suction. Foam prefilter was in good shape though I washed it anyway.
Biggest issue would be build quality. This model was like $180 new. It is not that well built. You won't be pulling this out in 20 years to vacuum. It runs the motor very hot, which can't be good. But it was something to try and seems better fitted than the airspeed for the job.
