Hello, we are a cleaning company looking for recommendations on a vacuum that is in the $60 to $120 range that is easily transportable and able to work on a variety of surfaces. Cleaners will be carrying these with them from job to job so portability is important. In the past we have used Dirt Devils, but they became unreliable after 3 months. Currently, we are using the Panasonic MC-CL310 Bagless "Suction" Canister but are not satisfied with the suction on carpets. All recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Get yourself a Eureka SmartVac bagged upright: they are excellent at deep carpet cleaning, have on -board tools for above-the-floor cleaning, and have a brush roll shut-off switch for bare floor cleaning. They cost under $150.

I agree with suckolux.

The bagged Hoover Tempo can be had for $80. So right in the sweet spot.

I HATE plastic vacs yet, I don't hate the Hoover Tempo. Great vacuum.

The Hoover Tempo is excellent for carpets, but not the greatest for cleaning other surfaces. The onboard hose is extremely short and there is no provision to turn off the brushroll for better and safer bare floor cleaning.

Another option is to pair a classic Eureka Boss Dial-a-Nap upright for carpets with a Sanitaire Mighty Mite canister for everything else. These two "back to basics" classic vacs are very lightweight yet powerful and durable. You can probably get the pair at a vac dealer for under $180.

Power head Canister Choice

The lime green Kenmore canister is on clearance at Kmart for around $145. I realize that's slightly over your budgeted price but it's a powerful machine with tools and power with large bag for any capacity. I also think that the build quality is better than some others out there.

Commercial Upright Choice
Hoover Professional CH50020 Primarily a carpet vac but a great one that will give you many years of thorough deep cleaning for your industry. Excellent power, excellent results, commercial built and excellent filtration. $135.99 on Amazon free shipping: www.amazon.com/Hoover-Ch50020-Com...

Consumer Grade Choice
The Hoover Tempo is a great machine. But with some better options of longer, useful hose, better attachments, and extremely easy bag disposal I recommend this Hoover bagged T Series Windtunnel. Hoover is using this similarly designed machine in it's newer Task Force Commercial series. High airflow, excellent cleaning, brush roll on/off switch. Currently $100 on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Hoover-WindTunnel-...

I've done my own house cleaning for many years on the side. My first pick of a machine was always a power head canister vac due to many homes being a mixture of mostly bare floors and some area rugs. I like being able to attach a quality bare floor brush for the hard floors. For a great horsehair bare floor brush your local vacuum shop probably has one for about $12 that you can use on the Kenmore canister or Panasonic that you posted. I think you get what you pay for in the most respect and the really cheap ones below $100 really will just make your life a nightmare!! Clogging performance, cheap parts breaking off too easy, blown belts, blown motors, awful filtration, and hoses that give you like 2' of which to clean with otherwise machine falls over and smacks you in the head or something of the sort!!

Don't hesitate to respond with any questions. Best of luck in your search!!
