Close up of Samsung, this pipes are my idea, we don't normally have pipes out, but what's the point having them out if we can't demo? All of our displays are smart |

"We have a couple of cheapie bagged cylinders on the left and our own cheapie Logik range on the right, I sell neither". So you refuse the sale if someone asks for one? |

I'm not a manager, I'm just given quite a bit of responsibility! I've been with them a good few years. I've always believed if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right It is a big store, although there are bigger |

Hey Adam
Is that the AEG version of the precision I see in the first photo ? I did not know they were going to sell that outside of the USA. Its not on there website yet either. Out of interest I went to Electrolux.co.uk's website and not a vacuum in site. Even here in SA all the top models are AEG's now |

Adam, I did some contract work in store 2282 - the currys PC world megastore at Teesside park a few years back.... Now that's a MASSIVE store! They had a DC07 origin and a dc25 all floors to vacuum the entire store! I've never seen two dysons with so many miles on the clock in my life LOL |

Those Samsungs look nice!
Gareth, we do indeed get the Precision in the UK now I looked at one in Currys and it looks really good not as bulky as the Nimble. I love walking the vacuum isle in my local Currys, I just hate the constant "can I help you with anything" from the staff in my local branch, I find John Lewis to be much more relaxed not as bothersome. |

It's far more than hello in my branch it's like you will buy something lol
I really like the idea of including the hose and tubes on some of your display vacuums it's nice to know exactly what you're betting. But are you not scared some child will pull on the hose and get squashed by a falling cylinder, or on the Samsung pictured above someone will trip over the floorhead? |

I must admit it looks like its going to go the same way here eventually. Entry level vacuums are Electrolux here in SA, For now and Top of the range are AEG. Electrolux used to be the floor care division here in SA with Electrolux AEG and Zannussi vacuums and small appliances and AEG did the large appliances This all changed about a few years ago. I wonder what Electrolux is up to with this move

It may well have to do with sales of their other brands. If the sales are down by worldwide/per country sales figures then it would make sense to pass whatever you have to the other companies. However, it surprises me that Electrolux can't forge new models for their own brand name.
Personally with a little cosmetic difference, I dont see why AERUS can't sell in the UK. I'd sooner buy an AERUS than an AEG! |

Adam, I think keeping the hose and tools out with the cleaners is a GREAT idea. Not only does it give the buyer a good view of the whole set, so they can be thinking about storage and if the tube or hose length will be too short or too long for their needs, but it also means that a customer can actually try out different models in store before buying. This is one of the things I really like about John Lewis so it's nice to see it being done elsewhere.
My local independant vacuum shop always lets a customer have a go before making a decision. |

It's surprising to see Miele in a larger store; in the States I mostly only see Miele in independent vacuum shops. They do have the S2 series at Bed Bath & Beyond, but that's about it. While I think of it, are Riccar and/or Simplicity sold in the UK? |

No wonder the UK vacuum market is going downhill, when in a lot of stores like the Range, Factory Stores, department stores etc offering a choice of.... Bagless pleated filter models (usually Vax)... |

Vintage repairer
Yes the Z85 is similar to those, The aqua lux ( Blue one ) is totally different developed in SA for our market. Its a wet&dry vac only vacuum and uses a extended tub of the Original base vacuum only version of the twin stream also called the aqua lux. How ever from there upwards its totally SA developed , In fact this is the second incarnation of this vacuum. The first used a different bucket but it was replaced by this one to save costs by sharing the bucket of the Z85 The Twin stream was on the market here as a stopgap model ( imported ) to compete with the Hoover Aquamaster which sold up a storm here until we developed our own Model the typhoon ( with out a pump to compete at the same price level. This was later replaced by the Z85 ( imported ) The later made here with a Double stage vacuum motor. The Z85 extractor vac uses the same lid as the Master lux but underneath is completely different, It has more in common wit the later Z85 but has a bigger bucket and a single stage motor. I am looking for a twinstream, Its one of my most wanted machines. |

I think the machine that did the best here was probibly the Bissell Big Green clean Gen 1. It was awesome. I still have one and think the idea behind 3in1 cleaners was not to clean the entire carpet yourself but to maintain the carpet and still have it done once a year by a professional. Its very handy to keep the carpets looking nice with pets and kids about.
