Hi,

Does anyone know if Simplicity is discontinuing the 7850? When you say buy now, it does not show up on their website, the Riccar 8955 is still on their website?

Thanks

Went to a Simplicity Dealer today....

They are discontinuing the Simplicity 7850. He did not have any.

ON another note, he had a new Air-Way canister. Totally different than the originals. I told him Air-Way was out of business. He said the owner bought the Air-Way name. The logo on the vacuum was exactly the Air-Way logo. The owner of the shop had this built to his specs. Red in color, variable speeds. Didn't really study it too well as I was looking for the 7850. Guess it will be one of the TOL Symmetry models...

The last production run of 7850's were built last week. If you want one at wholesale, call me at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum.

Simplicity 7850

Bud,
What is the deal with the Air-Way canister? Is this a machine that has gone into production? You got my interest. I think I was told a company had bought the rights to the name for use on a Central Vac but were not going to produce a regular home portable vacuum.

Hi Rob,

The owner of Kirkwoods did buy the name and they have a central vac with the Air Way name, plus a canister model. The canister had a power nozzle and was in an extremely nice red metallic color. It had push button variable speed control on the canister itself. I didn't look too much closer at it to tell the truth. It is nice to have the name carry on in my opinion. Hopefully the owner will design more vacs with the Air Way name.

Top clean air model question

2011hoover700's profile picture

Now that the model 7850 you told me got discontinued does the current top clean air model which has a serpentine belt also have a two stage motor like the 7850 does? I'll still recommend it to a friend who is getting a new vacuum (I went to recommend the 7850 until it got discontinued) however I personally would like to know more about it also so I know what to tell my friend.

Thank you very much for the info.

Simplicity 7850

Bud,
Thanks for the information. Let us know if you get the Simplicity. I was impressed with them at the dealers. Sure would like to see the new Air-Way too. I can't imagine what it would look like without the original Air-Way shape and unique tool set.

The 7850 is still available. There are more than 200 in the warehouse. If you want one, now is the time to buy one.

The two fan motor, as used in the models 7850 and 8955, is available in the Symmetry model S20P (the P is for Premium). That model will not be available until the VDTA launch (VDTA stands for Vacuum Dealer Trade Association convention in Vegas in Feb.)

Tom, thanks for the update and your generous offer. I actually bought the Symmetry Premium in the new color Grass Green since Kirkwoods didn't have the 7850's. They also didn't have the Premium in stock, so I bought it off of Simplicity's website.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I was on the fence between the Symmetry and the 7850. I had a Riccar 8955 but gave it to my niece for a wedding(maybe Xmas) present. I know how great of a machine it was and that is why I thought of the 7850. Especially after your high recommendations of the 7850 earlier this year.

I ran the Symmetry with the belt protection in the vacuum shop. It ran very well, but I wanted the Premium with tools. $599.00 on the website. I like the new grass green color.

Sincerely,

PR-21

I just caught onto this myself..

I was really wanting to buy the Simplicity 7 series (7850) only to find out that it has been discontinued, and replaced by an upgraded premium Symmetry :( :(

I'm guessing that the Riccar 8955 will also be retired soon as well, as they are replacing it with an upgraded Vibrance, model R20UP.

These machines from what I heard had a long run, (20 years) and were Riccar's and Simplicity's most popular models.

These did have the twin fan motor, and I just don't see how they were able to recreate this same vacuum into one of their already existing base models.

Does anybody have any of these newer models ?

How do they compare to the predecessor vacs?

@ Kirbylover

Wow nice machine!

None of my vac dealers here sell Simplicity, so I'll be lucky to find the new Vibrance r20up which supposedly is the same as 8955.

Is this Simplicity pretty much the same as the Riccar r20up model besides the design differences? How have they improved it from the 7850?

How heavy do you think this one is? Reason I ask is because I'd be getting it as a gift for someone that doesn't want something extremely heavy.

Call Tom Gasko at the Tacony Vacuum Cleaner Museum he might be able to sell you one .
This machine is the TOL model I absolutely am VERY impressed with this new Simplicity .
The machine might be heavy I guess but not for me I'm an X Linebacker so I really can't tell .
It's VERY powerful I LOVE the long stretch hose it reaches everywhere . I LOVE the lifetime
belt . A quality AMERICAN built vacuum by an amazing company . It's identical to the Riccar just
a bit of styling differences seperate them . I love Simplicity's carry handle better and the color looks
WAY better in person . It's way quieter than the 7850 and seems more powerful and the new bag change is super easy and I love the cloth type bags they filter
Really well .

The 7 series definitely

seemed like a true workhorse, I'm guessing this one wouldn't be any different, I love how they put a longer hose for sure. As far as the lifetime belt is considered, they are definitely starting to incorporate this in all of the models. I've never had a Riccar/Simplicity machine and am now ready for one lol
