Looking at an upright, kind of looks more commercial to me, long looking cord.Unsure of age, early 90s?? Looks pretty good condition, they want $25, going to look today.

Wow, maybe a bit much Downy! Oh well. Any ideas the age of the machine? Hood is metal. Its a Model 2089 A. Thankfully I have spare belts, bags, lights, motor, fan.Sounds great the way it is though.

Very much like the Decade 80 in operation/style. I do think the Hoover beats the carpet better, but this seems to have more suction, honestly it needs a bleed. Nice machine, reminds me of the ones around me growing up, same sound.

My Eureka Age-O-Meter seems to estimate a mid 1980's date for this vac! :-)

Clue: the lettering of the name Eureka is vertical, not slanted. This is similar to the very first years of the original Mighty Mite canister, the first Express canisters, and the Ultra uprights. At some point in the middle of the decade the letters became slanted.

I would guess 1984.:-)

My vac shop asked if it had the rubber ends on the beater bar, yes and the brushroll is black too. They guessed about 15 years old

Hi David! I would not use the brushroll as an indicator of the age of the rest of the machine. The original brushroll was probably replaced by the one that's in the vac now. The brushroll may be 15 years old, but the vac itself is probably 25 years old, in my opinion. :-)

As early as about 1989, the serial number would have its first four digits in the form of a date code bearing the year and week made.

For example: 8901 = denotes cleaner was made on the first week of the 1989 calendar year.

There are two little like clock faces on the bottom in the plastic, left one pointer is on 88, right side its on 5 and that one has 12 numbers on it like months. So guessing may of 88?

That's it! May of 1988! I guess my dating was indeed off by a few years, but I could not see this vac being from the 1990's without a slant on the lettering.

the left dial goes from 87-94 so it kind of made sense it would be the year. Needed my reading glasses to see them

Thanks! It cleaned up well, nice to use and maneuver around, not too heavy, long cord, the sound I am used to, had a couple of the Wards/ Eureka back in the day, even with the larger motor, sounds the same.Serious suction

David, congrats on a nice find! The Eureka you have is comparable to today's Sanitaires. You can't beat them in carpet/rug cleaning as far as a dirty air machine. IMHO, they've always beat the competition, which will remain nameless as not to cause a fury of flying feathers!
