I stumbled upon a Radiance on Craigslist for $40 and I could most definitely not pass it up. Davis and I took a little drive (about an hour) and picked this gem up. The seller was very nice and gave it to me for $30.

Other than smelling like dog it runs flawlessly! I threw a new bag and set of filters in it and that took care of it. I still need to give it a complete cleaning though. It is just missing the crevice tool. I still have the Radiance I got a couple of months ago but there is something caught in the direct air motor fan so it sounds wrong.

I'm not sure how this picture is going to turn out because I'm uploading it off my phone, so I apologizein advance.

MyLuck with Riccars is crazy

Chase,
What a great find. Let us know how you like the machine. I am just looking at the Riccars. Never knew anyone who had one and never used one but was impressed at the dealership with the build quality.
Sort of a mystery why they would sell such an expensive machine so cheap unless the person selling it was not the one who bought the machine new.
You would think anyone selling n Craig's list would have at least checked out completed ebay sales to get some idea of what it was worth.
I sold a lot of my machines last spring on Craig's list. Made money on the Dysons, Miele and Oreck but almost had to give away the new Hoovers and Eureka.

Great deal!!!Pay the seller his money-take the vacuum and RUN!!Glad you were able to cure the smells-usually new bag and filters help most there.

I've got one of those things right now that has been driving me nuts. Model RAD 10. Very expensive machine new, and I'm glad I didn't pay but $6.00 for mine. Bags very dear. When I first got it, I noticed that the carpet height elevation device had the knob broken off. Tacony is one of those outfits for whatever reason which holds their repair parts on a tight reign. You can only get them from a Riccar/Simplicity dealer. After two attempts, I finally got the height elevation adjuster from a local dealer. When I had the nozzle cover off to replace this part, I noticed I'd missed something the first time around. The handle assist spring was broken in three pieces which I'd failed to notice. This spring is made out of something like coat-hanger spring only harder. So, the original spring on these isn't replaced rather you must get an "upgrade kit" that has a spring of improved design, plus a completely new nozzle cover to go with the spring. Both of these parts that were broken on my machine were design revisions which indicate "weak link" situations. When Bissell makes a known dud, they will take care of it. Apparently, Tacony expects the consumers to absorb design deficiencies. I really haven't been impressed with this product being a $600 machine. I'm looking forward eventually to being able to use it and see if I like it.
