Hey everyone, so, I have not been happy with the bags that are available for the Electrolux 600 series, they are single layer thick paper bags that let a lot of dust through, now my 616 has a very good motor, it runs flawlessly and I can only seem to get single layer thick paper bags for it, so here is what I came up with. I recently bought an Electrolux Airstream 1000 off eBay, and I bought some bags at my local vac shop, thinking they would just be the double layer, paper Contour Style bags, well, I picked up the pack that said "Airstream 1000" on it and the packet was quite soft and chunky, so I turned it over and what do you know? they were synthetic cloth bags and came with 2 filters! Nice! Anyway, the Airstream bags have the Contour type connector collar on them (well, the Airstream is just a more powerful Contour and upgraded filtration) so it accrued to me that I could pull that cardboard collar off the Airstream bag, then take the cardboard collar off the 600 style bag, and stick it onto the synthetic cloth bag with double sided sticky tape, which we have lots of, as mum is a paper crafter. :) Here are some photos of what I did: As you can see the two bags with the different cardboard collars on them... |

Lol, I meant HEPA, I have amended it now.
Well, If I had used super glue, what do you think would of happened when I pressed it down? The glue would of soaked right through the fabric bag and stuck the two sides together. Before installing it I did give it a good tug and the bag didn't seem to come off or start to come away from the cardboard. I think it will hold just fine but I will be checking anyway, not that it is used regularly, but since the bag is resting on the filter cage, I don't imagine it will be pulling on the bag collar, I imagine as it fills it will just sit on top of the filter cage. |
