As far as collecting goes what is the options for a brand new vac. Most of today's major vacuum companies mass produce "cheap" low quality vacuums aka. large retail chain. vacuums. nothing like the quality craftman ship put into vacuums over 20 years ago so what makes a vacuum collectable for you?

With modern vacuums i look for machines that are of good quality, unique in some way, or represented a different era of a company. While most of the stuff out there isn't of too great of quality you still have some good companies such as Sebo Lindhaus, Miele, Riccar/Simplicity, Patriot, Silver King, Rainbow, Kirby as well as others.

I look to performance, styling, and durability. I'm also a power nozzle canister lover!! Yes many companies are looking to find ways to make things cheaper to lower their costs and also put consumers back in the market sooner. But in many cases performed has improved along with convenience. TV's are built cheaper to not last as long now but with the HDMI, and so many capabilities I think it's neat to see what sort of technology they will put into the vacuum industry.

I sell FilterQueens. The current market of FilterQueen is completely based off the past. They've taken a great design and made it lighter weight, easier to use and more powerful. Despite being lighter weight there is still lots of metal, live rubber gasket seals and furniture guards and high impact, highly flexible and durable ABS on all other parts. The filtration system is spectacular reaching down to .1 Micron. To top it all off the machine is covered by a Lifetime Service policy that is transferable.

Tacony owned brands of Riccar and Simplicity and they make a few machines for some other companies are built right here in the United States. If you're a U.S. citizen, that would greatly appeal to you. They are high quality, high performance machines. The Tandem Air upright series offers 2 motors both drawing in airflow so that it is both a Direct and Indirect Air system. Their canisters are extremely powerful and so quiet. I've heard that Tacony is completing a complete revamp of their entire line and are in the process now of gradually rolling everything out onto market. It will be fun to look out for their new designs over the next several months.

If you like Bagless then Dyson offers a great design. Their cyclonic action systems are great for separating nearly all dirt out of the air so that filters don't clog up and power is maintained longer. The machines agitation and airflow in the agitator cavity VARIES WIDELY between units and is deemed by some as not their strongest aspect. But in terms of airflow and suction power Dyson knows what they're doing.

The Panasonic MC-CG902 canister is a proven designed unit with the same traditional Kenmore styled tool set found on Kenmore machines of years ago. This is one category that I really look to. I am not a fan of many current manufacturer trends of teeny crevice tools and combo upholstery nozzles/ dusting brushes. The red Panasonic MC-CG902 has 4 full sized attachments. This powerful canister is budget friendly as well!

The Royal SR30020 canister has an extremely nice power nozzle that is quiet and glides so easily over surfaces while digging deep down for a thorough clean and being very low profile. Hoover has incorporated a clean bag disposal system with their T Series bagged uprights. Over the years Hoovers have proven to be terrific cleaners, and to this day most Hoovers still live up to that level of high performance cleaners.

Meile has proven itself over the years to be very durable, quiet, powerful and offer excellent filtration. Their S7 series uprights and S8 series canisters have many exciting features that vacuum dealers are quite pleased with. Rainbows newest model is very powerful while offering a unique power nozzle with rotating brushes on either side that are great edge cleaners, the power nozzle really self propels itself along. Rainbows double as a 24/7/365 day a year air cleaner system that you never have to put away in the closet but rather just attach a hose to and start cleaning the surfaces in your home with it as you please. It performs the work of an air cleaner and vacuum cleaner all in one machine with the brushless motor that does not carbon emissions into the home. Their newest model has a light in the water base and LED lights on front of power head too which look really cool.

I could keep going, but these are some ideas. Something new on the market can't be referred to as rare, and therefore at this present moment may not feel to you like a "terrific find!" But in time all machines will eventually become vintage and hard to find. It all depends on what your styling, and tastes are.

Happy hunting to all and I hope that you found this helpful!
