I found an old TriStar just laying in the street one day and took it home. I soon discovered that the cord was gone up to the bit coming out of the vac and it was probably sitting there for a long time so its got to have been exposed to rain. It also appears that someone has opened the thing up because the wires on the inside are held together by some DUCTAPE!!! Im wondering if I should even try to fix this thing or just get rid of it now.

PS. The powerhead apparently needs a new belt or motor. It just is not working right.

I'm needing a motor for mine, so if you decide to trash it, save me the motor.

Compacts are a collector's favorite; they are easy to rebuild. There are lots of folks here who restore vintage vacuums

In my opinion, a Tristar DXL or earlier is definitely worth fixing. There's not a lot to 'em, and they're easy enough to work on.
