It should be known that when Kirby first introduced the disposable inner bags with its Tradition model in July of 1979, the original color of these paper bags was white.
During the Heritage II Legend run, around January 1988, they not only changed the color of the paper material from white to yellow, but the material on these newer bags (on all Kirby models up to this point) was slightly stronger, which according to the Heritage II Legend sales manual, was said to have "less chance of pinholes or tears." Curiously, the package for the Tradition's disposable bags (see inside cover of the second printing of the instruction book) says "Style 1" on it. From 1979 to 1984, one could order a 3-pack or a 12-pack of the disposable bags. After the Heritage II appeared, the 12-packs (191979 for Tradition and 191981 for Heritage) were discontinued in favor of the 9-packs (19067909 for Tradition, 19068109 for Heritage, 19068409 for Heritage II, and 19068909 for Generation 3). First-time owners of the Tradition, Heritage, Heritage II/Legend II and Generation 3 were given an introductory 2-pack of disposable bags. I also ask: when the G3 was introduced, why were they still making bags for both this (which prominently says "Generation 3" on the cover and the paper bags themselves) and the prior Heritage II/Legend II ("Style 3"), despite the fact that the G3 had used practically the entire fill tube assembly of the model it replaced? ~Ben |
