I would like to start a project in which I'd like to compile each and every part and part number Kirby (and one former Scott Fetzer subsidiary, American Lincoln - the manufacturer of the Super Sweep and Super Vac 18" commercial-duty upright vacuums) had used over the years, from the 505 of 1945 to the G4, the latter of which was released around the time of Kirby's 80th anniversary.
Certain part numbers are elusive, for they are found in older Kirby service manuals I've (and most of the rest of us here at VacuumLand) yet to find. I'm looking for those that date from the time of the 505, 509, 513, the Classic, the Classic Omega, Classic III, Tradition, Heritage, Heritage II Legend, Legend II, Generation 3 and G4 respectively. Why? Current parts code numbers may or may not be the original ones pertinent to a given model in its original years of production and sale. To make things complicated regarding this project, the American Lincoln 18" commercial vacuums as well as the Kirby Janitronic (portmanteau for "janitorial Sanitronic") and Comvac series (the 1300 and 1600) were more or less given different respective service manuals--meaning, I'm not sure if the Janitronic and the Comvac CVD1300 and CVD1600 were covered in standard Kirby service manuals in the '80s. Example of a list of parts and device assemblies whose elusive part numbers are wanted: Brush roll assembly (Janitronic, Super Sweep, Super Vac) Field (Janitronic, Super Sweep, Super Vac, Comvac) Armature (Janitronic, Super Sweep, Super Vac, Comvac) Terminal wiring (Dual Sanitronic 50 - early) Terminal wiring (Tradition - early) Rug Renovator (Dual Sanitronic 50 through Tradition) Warning decal (Classic Omega, Classic III; silver label applied on outside of motor shell between handle lock button and scuff plate) Speed switch assembly (Tradition - early production, mounted under headlight) Headlight lock button (Tradition) Speed switch engagement pin (Tradition - used on rug nozzle, hose, Miracle Head, Rug Renovator and Handi-Butler) Thank you, Ben (KirbyClassicIII) |
