You may or may not have seen this on ebay during the summer, but I did, and followed it a few times through various re-listings.

Eventually I bit after feeling sorry for it, and asked the seller if they would box it up if I booked a courier.

They said yes, then boxed it up, went on holiday, waited for me to get paid and then shipped it.

It arrived today

Going to try and clean the ratings plate off so we can fully date it.

A hint at its previous colour

The brushroll looks pretty awful, but the brushes look new! I have inspiration now after reading the recent restorations on here, tempted to wire wheel it back and rattlecan it black again

And the full bojack bag

The general idea is to leave it union jack, as it looks pretty funky. I may try and get some paint to touch up the blemishes in time, but first it needs recommissioning as its been sat in a garage for 40+ years, and it shows!

Might seal something in now

Gave the bag a good vac out, and re-did the bodge

Barn find!

The handle release is broken, and in trying to get the rusted screw out buggared the head. Will try and bodge this out at some point. The handle release worked after I blasted it with wd40 though, so its not so urgent now

Tended to the brushroll bearings

Split for the first time probably

From Union Jack 1334

Some baby wipes and nail polish remover bought them back

The other one was ok, just dry so didnt clean it up, would be ok as is

Sadly I've lost my tin of grease, so I've had to use oil for now, Works ok, but will re-strip and properly pack them another time

New belt, since the old one was in pieces stuck to the metalwork

Then I plugged it in and tried it. Dead. Nadgers. Swapepd the fuse from it into the miele, and dead. Put the fuse from the Miele into it and...

Done! Still not sure about the paint, wether to do what some of you have been doing and painting it back to its proper colour. It's got the scrap bag on though, could paint it another colour, or tidy up the existing paint.

No idea, but its useable now!

Personally I would keep it as it is Sam, I think it looks great, kind of reminiscent of pictures of Minis painted red, white & blue.

I remember seeing this on ebay! Like Al said, I'd keep it like it is, it's pretty unique and different. :)

I would personally try to get it back to its original colour.Did you get the paint off the metal ratings plate to date it ? .The metal Junior 1334s are great sturdy vacuums and great to work on too.Our main vacuum cleaner is a 1334A in the battleship original grey

I think the colour scheme will stay, either as is or tidied up.

I did attempt to scratch the base plate clean but it didnt work too well. May try some fine wire wool or paint stripper. I can see the stamped serial number, and the belt guard is light green.

It'll probably stay as it is for now and get used here and there, got more important things to be getting on with, but didnt want it to sit there unloved anymore!

I've just bought...

A genuine rear bearing
A non genuine front bearing
A riveter and some rivets

So when I get the stuck screw out I can hear a Junior run on new bearings!

Now, do I take it into homebase and get them to match the paint or buy primary coloured rattlecans from the pound shop?
